Provision

Late this last fall, a cozy night at home, and I was excited that we had the whole night free; with no plans really what so ever. I had had two “buyers” from craigslist come by, shortly after getting home, for we had finally sold our bags of clothes and a duplicate vacuum we had, since merging two households.

After they left, it was time to plan dinner, and figure out what we had in our cupboards, I decided to make Kyle’s favorite tuna casserole. I preheated the oven, and began to put together the ingredients with Kyle’s help when we thought we saw the light flip on inside the oven, when in fact the element had arched and was shooting sparks greater then most 4th of July fireworks!

We watched in awe and fascination, quickly turning off the stove, but it kept going… Kyle then raced to the garage, blinded by the sparks of light from the oven, and had a hard time seeing the breaker, and started to randomly switch ones off! We were in a fit of giggles in disbelief as random lights turned off, and on again, and the forever sparkler kept going, and going, and going… Until out of the corner of his eye Kyle saw the word kitchen by a tab and clicked it off from its power supply.

Now, that dinner was unattainable through means of baking, we decide we might as well go use our treasured ChickFila coupons for supper. Making sure the oven was disconnected and the house wouldn’t burn down, we headed out. Arriving, there was trouble with the register and figuring out our coupon so a manager came up, who just “happened” to be one we knew through a friend who worked there, decided to comp us the meal…not even knowing the reason for our visit. It was a huge blessing with our inexpensive dinner at home being ruined and was an unplanned expense. We had the added blessing of discovering some friends that were there and asked us to join them. We ended up talking for close to 3 hours, sharing life together.

After arriving home, concerned at the price of replacement of a whole new oven, we decided to look online, where Kyle found a part online and was able to fix it for the exact same amount we received for the items sold earlier that evening. Yup, God knows how to count! That is provision.
