Reunion with old friends!

Departures, by Robin Jones Gunn, is like a reunion with old friends! A book of two short stories of beloved Characters Christy Miller and Sierra Jensen.

Christy Miller returns home to enjoy some small town charm and adventures for her grandparent’s 50th anniversary. Robin’s talent for bringing the setting to life shines through as she whisks you to a small Wisconsin town and it’s the perfect setting to imagine Christy encountering an old classmate and entertaining feelings from the past, while dreaming of future possibilities.

Sierra Jensen wants life to remain the same, while friend Jana is excited to see what’s on the horizon, getting a boyfriend and soon. We follow Sierra on her first trip away from family and find she is on more then just a new adventure! Sierra realizes she is on that lazy turned rapid river that begins the transitions from a girl into a woman.

Lessons of family, heritage, love, and friendship are delicately woven into these fun tales. I enjoyed this extra snapshot into the lives of my favorite fictional series.

I did receive this book from Waterbrook Multomah in exchange for writing a review after reading it.
