Bear at 4 weeks!

Baby Bear, I can hardly believe you are 4 weeks old today. It goes by so quickly. We have loved discovering your personality and some of your quirks already.

A few of those are…

You have amazing secret smiles, that just melt my heart.

You love to sleep on your side when you can

You hate to be cold and love to be extra warm

You hate to have your diaper wet! Poop you could care less

You can hold your soothie in your mouth with your hands, when you were two weeks old, and although that seemed like a fluke you do it almost every time with your cute fists

You love to sleep…and hard. It will probably be incredibly hard to get out you of bed for school when you are a teenager for waking you up for feeding takes forever

You are always wide away from 9pm-midnight, unless you join daddy and you two hang out, watch TV, then you fall asleep in about 5 minutes

You love to be held snug and prefer to be gently rocked or swayed. And still love to be swaddled

You enjoy mommy’s lullabies even when she can’t remember all the words

You make the cutest squeaks and sighs when you sleep

You have the longest fingers I have ever seen with a very strong grip, and the softest feet ever which are not ticklish, but your sides are

You have the cutest expressions, especially your ooooo look, when you purse your lips and crinkle up your forehead with those raised eyebrows or your smirks

You sound like a little Billy goat when you start to cry, and tend to cry really hard then stop suddenly.

You shocked me when you turned to your side three times in a row and do it now consistently; I have to make sure you are secure so you won’t roll off something

You sleep just like daddy with one arm over your head, and hold your thumbs like mommy.

You love your bath time and seeing yourself in the mirror

You get the hiccups at least once daily just like when I was pregnant with you

You have your nights and days on track so far. And tend to sleep about 5 hours at night in the last week, now that we don’t have to wake you for feedings and let you wake on your own.

My life has never felt more complete to be your mom. I look forward to being there for your firsts, to just being there for you. I’ve loved seeing all you discover each day, and what we as your parents learn with every turn. Never have we been more tired, but never have we been more fulfilled in life. Happy 4 weeks! :)
